MPR2M7P

A tool for converting MPR files to M7P files.

The following project-specific information is converted for strings (native texts and translations):

Currently the application is able to migrate these features from a Multilizer 6 project:

  • Row statuses
  • Read-only (AKA "Do not translate") state of row
  • Translation statuses
  • Row and translation comments
  • Max Characters value
  • Excludes by native
  • Excludes by context

As the options for configuring a target differes a lot between Multilizer 6 and 2010, the options are converted. Therefore you should review the options after conversion and re-scan the project.

A word about contexts

The contexts in Multilizer 6 and 2010 differ. Therefore the utility uses "context translation rules". There are either target-specific rules or fallback rules.

Target specific context translation rules are available for the following target types:

  • VCL (Delphi and C++Builder binary)
  • PE (Windows Binary)
  • INI
  • KEY

 

Background

Multilizer 6 uses MPR file format for storing the localization project information. This project format was change to m7p in Multilizer 2007 and newer. As MPR differs a lot from newer formats a tool is needed to upgrade the project format.

The tool can be used for the following purposes:

  1. Simplify the migration from Multilizer 6 to Multilizer 2010
  2. Convert MPR to M7P, in order to do context-specific import of translations to your existing Multilizer 2010 projects.

Usage

Using MPR2M7P

It's very easy to convert an existing MPR file to M7P. Simply click Convert... button and specify the location of an existing MPR file. The tool outputs a M7P file with the same filename and .m7p file extension.

Opening the converted project in Multilizer 2010

The converted project can be opened as such in Multilizer 2010. Once open in Multilizer 2010 do the following steps:

  • Review the target options
  • Scan the project

Log

The log tells what targets there are in the existing MPR file. Check the log for any issues in converting a specific target to M7P format.
